No railway — real or imagined — is created in isolation, and the Glynoch & Rathmor Railway has been inspired by an ever-growing collection of books, layouts, videos, societies, websites and wonderfully creative people. Here we’ll share some of the resources that have helped shape the G&R, from books such as Christopher Awdry’s Sodor: Reading Between the Lines, exploring the remarkable depth of history behind his father’s fictional island, to the knowledge and friendship found through organisations such as the 009 Society. It will also highlight favourite layouts, useful blogs and websites, and YouTube creators such as That Model Railway Guy, whose projects and ideas are always an entertaining source of inspiration. Think of this as the G&R bookshelf, viewing list and modelling notebook all rolled into one — a growing collection of things we’ve enjoyed, learned from and think are well worth discovering.
