Rolling Stock
From humble open wagons and weather-beaten passenger coaches to vehicles built for some of the Caerwyn Isles’ more unusual industries, the islands have developed a wonderfully varied collection of rolling stock. Slate wagons rattled down from the mountain quarries, timber trucks served the great forests around Llyngor, while peat, stone, agricultural produce and even Porthelan’s famous molasses required wagons adapted specifically for the job. Passenger stock was equally varied, ranging from simple early carriages to vehicles built for the islands’ longer and increasingly popular journeys. Bit by bit, each wagon and carriage type will be researched, recreated in model form and documented here, building an ever-growing record of the rolling stock that kept the Caerwyn Isles moving.
NOTE: Work in progress. As each wagon and carriage gets its own dedicated page it will be linked to from here. Keep up to date with our progress documenting the railways of Glynoch and Rathmor by joining our newsletter.
