Modelling the Glynoch and Rathmor

Follow the journey as we bring the Caerwyn Isles to life in miniature, from the rugged countryside around Feorag to the bustling harbourside at Llanchala or building the Llyngor trestle bridge in miniture. We’ll be sharing regular updates from across the layouts, including scenery and layout construction, scratch-building rolling stock and motive power, product reviews, new techniques and experiments — and, of course, finding ever more ambitious ways to push the 3D printer to its limits!

The ever-growing list of planned layouts has one important thing in common: almost every one is being designed to work both as a stand-alone exhibition layout and as part of a much larger modular railway. That means a small corner of the Caerwyn Isles can head off to a show on its own, or several layouts can be joined together to create something considerably more ambitious. As a member of the Dartmoor 009 Group,  we regularly meet up for running days, meet-ups and exhibitions, including a truly ginormous modular layout at Alexandra Palace in 2026. As more sections are built, more of the islands — and their railway network — will gradually become possible to recreate in miniature.
